Senior Scientist II- BDRD
The Genomics Department in the Biological Defense Research Directorate (BDRD) of the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) has a mission to apply bioinformatics and cutting edge, high-throughput technologies such as genotypic and phenotypic expression profiling, biomarker characterization, bacteriophage science, etc. to the study of infectious diseases, biodefense, and enhanced global disease surveillance for early pathogen detection and response. We are seekeing a Senior Scientist with the following experience: 1) Practical knowledge of basic and applied research including experimental design and methods, and must have demonstrated the ability to perform original and competent research.2) Ability to manage a research program, including training of other scientists, technicians, and support personnel; and management of necessary resources including budget, supplies, equipment and facilities.3) Experience conducting research involving phage therapy. Education Masters Degree in a scientific discipline. Ph.D. in virology, microbiology, molecular biology, emerging infectious diseases, or biochemistry high desired. Practical post-doctoral research in virology and bacteriology is considered essential. Qualifications 10-15 years of related experience in the fields of bacteriophage science, virology, and bacteriology. Must be able to pass all criteria for a Secret security clearance.
