Responsible for the design and development of Video Management Systems (VMS) and networks.

1. Analyzes VMS networks; including planning; designing; evaluating; selecting; and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators; bridges; and other devices.

2. Plans VMS network layouts and configures systems to user environments.

3. Analyzes VMS network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.

4. Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.

5. Configure and test VMS system and equipment in a lab environment prior to deploying to the site including updating addresses; user groups; security and interfaces with existing systems.

6. Take part in physical installation of VMS and check out of system through to customer acceptance.

7. Serves as company liaison with customer on technical matters for assigned projects.

8. Provide technical support and troubleshooting to users; including user training.

9. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel and may have supervisory responsibilities.

10. Maintains current knowledge of relevant VMS technologies; software; hardware and manufacturers' products.

11. Participates in special projects as required.

Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science; Engineering; or a related technical discipline; or the equivalent combination of education; technical certifications or training; or work experience. Qualifications 8-10 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design.

Advanced knowledge of VMS principles; methods; and techniques used in network analysis and design. Advanced knowledge of routers; switches; patch panels; concentrators; associated terminals; and related VMS hardware and software. Advanced knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications. Manufacturers? certifications for VMS software a plus.
