Performs installation; maintenance and repair of telecommunications systems.



1. Installs; maintains and repairs voice; data and wireless communications systems.

2. Maintains telecommunications equipment and installs; rearranges and removes equipment and associated wiring.

3. Interprets service orders; circuit diagrams; and electrical schematics.

4. Tests; locates; and repairs equipment problems associated with trouble calls; and performs routine maintenance.

5. Verifies work order information and receipt of all necessary equipment and information.

6. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technicians.

7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

8. Participates in special projects as required. Education Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Systems; Computer Science; Engineering; a Mathematics-intensive discipline; or a related field with a curriculum or major field of study which provides substantial knowledge useful in administering large; complex networks is preferred. Qualifications 3-5 years of related telecommunications experience.



Security Plus certification or an equivalent DoD 8570 Certification is required; as well as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Voice certification; a Polycom Certified Videoconferencing Engineer (PCVE) certification; or a related equivalent. Typical duties include: ? Managing the configuration and maintenance of voice; data and video equipment ? Ensuring that trouble ticket items are Investigated and resolved and that necessary equipment repairs are performed ? Overseeing the resolution of circuit issues ? Ensuring that system logs and records are maintained
