Designs and develops information processing hardware; computer systems and electrical components.

1. Conducts complex research; design; development and testing of information processing hardware such as computer chips; circuit boards; computer systems and electrical components.

2. Designs new products and/or modifies existing products.

3. Develops technical specifications for production.

4. Analyzes hardware configuration and processing solutions.

5. Tests hardware performance to specifications.

6. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced hardware engineers and may have supervisory responsibility.

7. May serve as a technical team or task lead.

8. Serves as liaison with clients; participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.

9. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

10. Participates in special projects as required. Education 1. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science; Engineering or a related technical discipline.

2. Masters Degree preferred. Qualifications 10-15 years of related hardware engineering experience.



Required Skills & Experience: 1. Demonstrated on-the-job experience installing; configuring; managing; and upgrading datacenter hardware to include device cables and connectors; various hardware (including Network and Storage) power devices and cooling configuration devices. 2. Demonstrated on-the-job experience installing; configuring; managing; and upgrading the following hardware technologies: Cisco UCS B-Series; Cisco C-Series rack servers HP Blade System; HP Proliant Rack Servers; and IBM Blade Center. 3. Demonstrated on-the-job experience installing; configuring; managing; and upgrading NetApp and Hitachi storage devices. 4. Demonstrated on-the-job experience installing; configuring; managing; and upgrading Cisco NEXUS & Catalyst series network devices. Desired Skills and Experience: 1. Demonstrated on-the-job experience documenting datacenters; rack layouts; logical data flows and network diagrams using AutoCAD and Visio design software. 2. Demonstrated on-the-job experience leading the design and layout of an enterprise datacenter to include calculating the needed datacenter environmental requirements. 3. At least one of the following certifications: CompTIA Server+; Cisco DCUCI (Data Center Unified Computing Support Specialist); HP ATP (Accredited Technical Professional) Server Administrator V8; and/or HP ATP (Accredited Technical Professional) BladeSystem Solutions Support V8.
