Job Description

    Designs and develops instructional approaches and/or strategies to meet training requirements. Conducts analysis of training and delivery method requirements. Develops appropriate training objectives and test methods and designs instructionally valid training materials. Ensures integrity of task analysis, training requirements, training hierarchies, instructional materials, and evaluation plans. Designs and develops computer based training, web-based training, and other learning solutions. Designs instructionally sound lessons in a variety of delivery methods. Coordinates with Program Director and training staff to develop training materials and evaluation tools. Participates in special projects as required.

The training program provides online and classroom based training courses to staff working at emergency shelter facilities for unaccompanied children. Targeted technical assistance by trainers is also part of the training program. Trainees are shelter staff, such as social workers, mental health clinicians, front line youth care workers, medical professionals, primarily at the RN and LPN levels, and support staff such as kitchen, security, IT and custodial staff. The training takes place at the shelter site, as well as at remote locations. Trainings also include documentation needs and technical topics involving the customer database. The Curriculum Developer must have a strong understanding of how to develop comprehensive training for the myriad of people who work with the children and then aid in training the shelter trainers to deliver the curriculum on site. Specialized knowledge of working with unaccompanied minors, children’s residential facilities, and vulnerable immigrant populations is preferred.

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or a related discipline.
  • Masters Degree preferred.
  • 5-8 years of related instructional development experience.
  • Clean FBI fingerprint, Child Abuse and Neglect (C/AN) and/or child protective services check.
