Database Administrators (DBAs) are responsible for designing, planning, implementing and administering databases, including security, access, and documentation.


 1. Participates in the design, maintenance, enhancement, coding, and administration of relational databases to include:


  • Air Vehicle (AV) and ALIS configuration
  • F-35 Fleet Management
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Reliability and maintainability (R&M)
  • Supply Chain Management (SCM)
  • Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS)
  • Government-off-the-Shelf (GOTS)
 2. Analyzes and determines information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.

 3. Coordinates new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure.


4. Performs back up, restore and disaster recovery.

 5. Reviews business requests for data and data usage, researches data sources for new and better data feeds.

 6. Participates in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, and documenting problems, changes, and solutions.

 7. Tests designed applications which include:


  • Join-Service Technical Data (JTD)
  • Failure Reporting
  • Analysis and Corrective Action System (FARCAS)
  • CMMS with the appropriate Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) codes and part numbers

 8. Assignments may include design of data dictionaries, database structure and layout, installing, upgrading, and managing database applications.

 9. May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced Analysts.

 10. Stay current on vendors' best security practices in relation to organizational requirements.

 11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

 12. Participates in special projects as required.



Education Bachelors Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.


Required Certifications:

    Oracle Certified Associated (OCA) or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) CertificationSecurity+ Certification

Qualifications 5-8 years of related database analysis and/or administration experience.



Prior to hire, database administrators must have demonstrated professional experience in at least four of the five tools listed in major bullets below:

  • Oracle
                Oracle Relational Database management System (RDBMS)

                Oracle Export, Import and Data Pump

  • Structured Query language (SQL)

                Oracle SQL Plus

  • Siebel
  • Microsoft (MS) SQL Server 2000
  • Windows Server 2003


SECRET clearance required.


Access to ALIS operating units is restricted to the appropriately cleared personnel.  All ALIS DBAs are required to possess a current Secret/Special Access Required (S/SAR) clearance prior to onboarding, and be capable of attaining the appropriate program Special Access Program (SAP) for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Program.
