  • Participates in the design, maintenance, enhancement, coding, and administration of relational databases.
  • Analyzes and determines information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.
  • Coordinates new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure.
  • Reviews business requests for data and data usage, researches data sources for new and better data feeds.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, and documenting problems, changes, and solutions.
  • Tests designed applications.
  • Assignments may include design of data dictionaries, database structure and layout, installing, upgrading, and managing database applications.
  • Stay current on vendors' best security practices in relation to organizational requirements.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • Analyze database requirements of assigned projects. 
  • Analyze and determine information needs and elements, database relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities. 
  • Apply knowledge of database management systems to coordinate maintenance and changes to databases. 
  • Test and implement changes or new database designs. 
  • Write logical and physical database descriptions, including location, space, access method, and security requirements. 
  • Provide direction to programmers and analysts as required to affect changes to database management systems.
  • Provide answers to database questions.  Knowledge of and ability to monitor databases and to analyze and organize data and apply new technology designs and programs.
  • Responsible for designing, planning, implementing and administering databases, including security, access, and documentation.

This is a possible remote work opportunity. 

Education Bachelors Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications
  • 0-2 years of related database analysis and/or administration experience.
  • Must be able to pass a Public Trust Level 5 background investigation
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records highly desired
  • Familiarity with Agile Methodology highly desired
  • Must have 2 years hands-on experience with InterSystems Cache/Ensemble 2012+ technology
  • Knowledge of the VistA electronic health record or Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS Team Foundation is preferred
  • An understanding of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Enterprise Performance Life Cycle (EPLC) is highly desired
  • Basic knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in database development, coding, and design, including business analysis, event modeling, logical and physical database design, data access analysis and design, DBMS optimization, archive and recovery strategy, load strategy design and implementation, security, and change management.
  • Proficiency in the use of one or more specific technologies, depending on job assignment.
  • Professional certification(s) may be required, depending on job assignment. 4. Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner
