Job Description

Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.


The Systems Engineer will work with the DCGS-A Integration team and perform the following duties:

    Load and configure baselines, train current software baselines, assist with hardware evaluations, as well as evaluations of new software installs. Assist the system specific development teams with loading of software baselines on current and future hardware.Support the transition of software and hardware environments from the PM to the Depot.Operate in a hybrid virtualization environment working with VMware ESXi 5.5, as well as standalone systems,  Enhance existing automation environments and streamline provisioning.Maintain and monitor hardware and infrastructure systems primarily consisting of standalone servers, blade compute (Cisco UCS), Netapp and Dell Equalogic storage, and Cisco networking Participate in cross-functional teams and help debug system issues across the infrastructureAssist in research, selection and implementation of virtualization and storage solutionsAssist the system team with the development of documentation for software installs on multiple hardware baselines and provide back to the lab managerAssist in STIG, Patch and POAM of all systems as needed.Performs systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering
Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

Qualifications 2-5 years of related systems engineering experience.


TS-SCI Clearance required at start of work.DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 qualified on first day of work. (Security+ CE and technical computing environment certifications)At least 1 year experience with Microsoft SQL database management in a DoD environmentDemonstrated experience working in a VMware virtualized DoD environment and supporting databases for VMware vCenter ServerIn-depth working knowledge of enterprise supporting operating systems i.e. Microsoft Windows 7, 10, Server 2008 R2, Server 2012, or LinuxKnowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Active Directory Group Policies, Exchange, and other Windows Server roles.Experience in creating technical documentation. Preferred Qualifications:

MCSE or other related Microsoft certification in server 2008/2012 SQL 

CCNA or other networking certificationAt least 1 year of experience with an automated patching system i.e. IAVA, WSUS, SCCM, Altirus, or Puppet.Demonstrated knowledge of LAN topology, routers, hubs, switches, and network protocols (TCP/IP, IPX).Working knowledge of storage systems and automation.Experience in scripting (VBScript, batch files, InstallScript, Wise Script, etc.).Experience in SharePoint server administration.Exceptional oral and written communication skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and results-focused mindset are highly desirable.Military experience desired. Completion of U.S military NCO or Senior NCO Academy Course or Officer Basic or Advanced Course is preferred.#DPOST
