Researches, designs, develops and/or modifies internal applications software.

    Designs and codes software components, units, and modules that meet product specifications and development schedules.Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.Tests and debugs assigned components and units.Participates in large system and subsystem planning.Collaborates with hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems and works with them to resolve incompatibilities.Writes and updates technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.Troubleshoots problems and provides customer support for software operating systems and application issues.Advises hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements.Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.Participates in special projects as required.
Education Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science; Applied Mathematics or Information Systems Management; or five (5) years of related experience working in maintaining and managing computer systems that are used to support multiple computer operations at the same time.

Qualifications 2-5 years of experience.

 Must possess experience in at least two (2) of the following and experience must have been obtained within the past five (5) years:

-              One (1) year experience as a computer systems manager/operator on Microsoft, UNIX and/or LINUX based computing environments, employing Windows Server 2003 (or newer) and client XP (or newer), Sun Solaris, UNIX, and LINUX operating systems;

-              One (1) year experience managing and working on local area network (LAN) administration, operation, and architecture with a mixture of a minimum of 30 client systems;

-              Two (2) years' experience working with two of the following languages: C, C++, C#, Python, Perl, Java, Ruby, Visual Basic, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL, and ORACLE;

-              Certifications in software applications.

* Must have certifications appropriate for compliance with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Workforce requirements.


    Knowledge of software engineering principles, methods, and techniques.Knowledge of tools to include, but not limited to: Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL Server.Knowledge of development languages and frameworks to include, but not limited to: C#, XML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, ASP.Net, MVC Entity Framework, and TSQL.Knowledge of development languages and frameworks: PHP, and Silverlight.Ability to design, develop, and modify web-based applications to meet customer requirements, with an emphasis on usability, interfaces, and translating functional requirements.Ability to prepare and execute comprehensive test plans; analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and recommend or implement corrective action.Ability to independently interpret broad technical requirements.
