Bachelor’s Degree and significant experience in administrative support functions or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:



  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills

  • Experience in Employee Benefits field

  • Excellent human relations, customer support and communication skills (oral and written)

  • Preferred candidate will have experience with enterprise wide software, Oracle preferred, or other integrated human capital management system

  • Spanish speaking abilities preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION:  

This is highly specialized work in providing benefits information and assistance to employees and benefit vendors. An employee in this class is responsible for conducting benefit information meetings, responding to inquiries from employees and vendors, developing and maintaining working relationships with school, county and outside agency personnel, and ensuring that federal, state and School Board mandates are being implemented. Duties are primarily high-level administrative and technical, although routine clerical and office tasks are performed as well. Work is performed independently and requires excellent judgment and the ability to make expert interpretations of policies and practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Responsible for having a detailed knowledge of all benefits provided by Loudoun County Public Schools, including Medical, Dental, Vision and Prescription coverage, Flexible Spending Accounts, Elective Deferral Programs, Wellness Works! Program and all other voluntary benefits offered currently and in the future

  • Responsible for having knowledge of plan designs and coverage positions for all insurance programs for active and retired employees

  • Responsible for eligibility, enrollment and reconciliation processes relating to all benefits

  • Responsible for having knowledge of benefit premiums and how they are calculated

  • Responsible for tracking program specific costs

  • Responsible for transferring appropriate information to vendors, electronically or manually

  • Responsible for dispersing payroll deductions appropriately

  • Responsible for initiating accounts payable requests as appropriate

  • Responsible for initiating payments to vendors

  • Responsible for drafting and distributing employee communications, including web resources

  • Performs related work as required

OTHER INFORMATION:  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity, and is performed in office surroundings. Position requires workers to lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs, bend, reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer keyboards. The work requires the ability to speak clearly and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.

UNUSUAL DEMANDS:  Work is subject to frequent interruptions and to inflexible deadlines; standing for 2-3 hours without a break; dealing with and resolving critical issues on a regular basis.
