The National Academies Press (NAP) is the publisher for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (The National Academies). NAP publishes more than 200 book-length works each year, and has the dual mission of disseminating the works of the National Academies as widely as possible while sustaining the entire cost of its operation through the revenues generated by book sales and fees for services performed for customers both inside and outside the institution. Publishing services of almost any kind can be performed by NAP. We handle all report production from unedited files to final published books. In addition, we handle services from printing business cards and stationery to the creation of complex graphics to the procurement of copyediting services to the development and printing of brochures, newsletters, and other promotional materials and mailings. All these services are billed back to the program units at cost.
