System Center Configuration Manager Engineer I

Longterm contract

Position requires a SECRET Clearance

Location: Huntsville, AL, or Vicksburg, MS, or Portland, Oregon

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role candidates will perform duties with direct supervison and guidance from Senior SCCM engineers. General assistance in all matters of maintaining the SCCM hierarchy, backups, database maintenance, and IAVA and STIG compliance for all SCCM servers. Works closely with peers in the deployment of Microsoft updates (e.g. Patch Tuesday), IAVAs (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Adobe patches), application deployments, operating system deployments, and monitoring patch and application compliancy numbers to comply with SLR's. Work with Remedy to resolve incidents opened by end users in regards to SCCM client health and troubleshooting, application and program deployments, and object removals for reimaging requests. Work closely with application packagers to distribute their content and advance Flexera workflows.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Assist in application and package/program distribution and deployment to collections

  • Work to achieve greater than 95% compliancy of application deployments to meet SLR requirements

  • Deploy Microsoft patches and IAVA updates on a scheduled basis

  • Work under general supervison on the development and deployment of Operating System images

  • Assist IA and ACAS teams to ensure IAVAs are resolved in a timely manner

  • Monitor and maintain backup jobs for all primary servers

  • Monitor server health using SCOM

  • Assist SCCM team in maintaining the health of the hierachy and databases

  • Maintain STIG and IAVA compliance on all SCCM servers

  • Work with application packaging team to distribute packages and advance workflows

  • Assist Desktop Support in SCCM client repair, troubleshooting, and remediation

  • Coordinate core infrastructure changes affecting SCCM hierarchy with relevant IT personnel

  • Provides Tier III support for engineering and program-level issues elevated by Systems Administrators, technicians, and other program personnel in regards to Application deployments, Client installation, or OSD imaging

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Working environment will be standard office environment.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Working environment will be standard office environment. Individual should be able to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

Associates degree in a relevant field and 4+ years of experience, or 6+ years of relevant experience

Experience:

Minimum of 4 years recent experience working with Microsoft Server, Windows 7, SQL 2008/2012, Active Directory, Group Policy, and general Networking skils. Experience with DOD requirements and mandates and working in an Enterprise environment of 30,000+ computers is a plus.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of Active Directory and/or Microsoft Registry and ability to query or modify settings

  • Knowledge of MS Windows Server and desktop Operating Systems

  • Current Active Secret/SSBI Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one

  • One of the following baseline certifications as specified by DoD 8570.01-M for IAT Level II (CCNA Security, GSEC Sans Security Essentials, Security+, Security+ CE, SSCP)

  • Associates Degree in IT or related discipline with 4+ years of practical experience or 6+ years of direct and relevant technical experience can be substituted for education

  • Minimum 2 years of experience implementing/managing System Center Configuration Manager in an enterprise environment, SCCM 2012 or latest version

  • Ability to obtain Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MSCA) or equivalent Computing Environment Certification (CE) within six months of start date

  • Strong technical background in systems management, networking, infrastructure requirements and standards, software packaging standards and processes, software patch management processes and methodologies, release and change management processes as applied in large enterprise environments

  • Operational expertise in Operating System Deployment, Software Deployment, Security Patch Management, PowerShell, VBScript, Batch Programming

  • Experience implementing and supporting all features, roles, and components of the SCCM product

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the proven ability to engage effectively across technical disciplines at all levels in the organization

  • Familiarity with packaging application tools and processes for enterprise deployment is desired (AdminStudio, InstallAware, App-V)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with App-V or Virtualizing applications

  • Strong development experience, especially scripting and packaging

  • Experience working in a large enterprise environment and networks
