Senior Drupal Developer, Web Services - University Information Services

The Senior Drupal Developer plays a leading role in supporting the existing university-wide multi-site Drupal 7 distribution and porting this existing system to Drupal 8. S/he contributes code to in-house open source projects, and sets up a continuous integration system and enhancing DevOps workflows used at Georgetown.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Analyzes University-wide information system requirements, develops specifications, and writes system documentation.
  • Trains and mentors junior technical contributors and vendors, and reviews all front-end and back-end code on a peer-to-peer basis.
  • Works within and across teams to support the acquisition of new skills and areas of expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree  in computer science or related computing-intensive field or Master's degree in computer science/MIS or related computing-intensive field
  • 5+ years of Drupal development experience in a senior or lead position
  • Strong skills and extensive experience in Drupal and computer programming languages, including:
  • Understanding of underlying Drupal architecture and expertise in creation of Drupal modules
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of PHP, object-oriented programming, and algorithms
  • Understanding of the Symfony framework and its application in Drupal 8
  • Experience with the Drupal development workflow, which involves using the command line, Git, the features module, Drush, install profiles, and dev/stage/prod environments
  • Experience with test automation and continuous delivery using Bash, SimpleTest, and Selenium
  • Experience setting up and maintaining a continuous integration server
  • Experience with data migration and deployment of Drupal sites
  • Experience creating RESTful web services using Drupal
  • Experience developing and maintaining high-load Drupal multi-site installations
  • Understanding of information technology - for example, operating systems, network and internet technologies, web services, SOA, open standards, database systems, information security, and data warehouses
  • Ability to lead the research, design, development, and documentation of large complex projects/assignments with little guidance from a manager

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience creating and supporting front-end Drupal themes using HTML, CSS, Sass/Compass, and the Adaptive theme
  • Experience in JavaScript, jQuery and frameworks, such as Backbone or Angular.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with environment and development tools appropriate to enterprise systems - for example, J2EE, XML, Ajax, Oracle, SQL
  • Working experience with various industry standard frameworks and tools such as Hibernate, JBoss, and Django
  • Active participation in the Drupal community through open-source contributions to drupal.org and/or leading sessions at Drupal conferences
