General Manager Job Description

This is the lead general management role and a very unique opportunity to get involved on the front end of an exciting new venture in our first location in the Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington. Our current GM is preparing to relocate outside the U.S. due to her spouse's next career move. We are seeking a highly professional and talented General Manager (GM) with natural leadership skills and a disciplined style to grow with us. Candidates must have a genuine passion for healthier choices, delicious food, consistent quality, distinctive in-store experience & value and great customer service. A hands-on leader who can build a loyal and motivated staff is essential. Our fast casual restaurant delivers better food, fast by providing a positive and efficient in-store experience. We are improving the world -- at least a little! - by making it easier for people to eat fresh, delicious and crave-able food. Food that they can be confident is better for them than most other fast casual or quick service restaurant options.

BOWL'D is a new fast casual concept inspired by the Owners belief that many people are interested in eating better if it tastes good and is convenient. BOWL'D is carving out a unique niche in the food service market and investing for the long run. This is not a flighty idea to invest in a "cool" new restaurant, but rather a deliberate and thoughtful approach to addressing an unmet need in the market as people increasingly look for tasty, but healthier options. BOWL'D is going to grow beyond the first unit as it is designed from the start to be adaptable and of service to many and to last beyond passing food fads and food trends.

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

Reporting to the owner, the General Manager leads and directs daily operations of the restaurant (just over 1,800 square ft) including product preparation and delivery; customer relations; restaurant maintenance, repair and sanitation; compliance with all laws; inventory management and purchasing; team management, hiring, retention and termination of underperforming team members; financial accountability; and ensuring that the highest quality products and services are delivered to each customer CONSISTENTLY. Other duties as required or assigned. The GM will most importantly organize, lead and motivate other employees towards great results. A more detailed position description will be provided to interested parties whose experience fits the requirements below.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

* A genuine interest in and enthusiasm for better, healthier food!
* 3 + years of managerial experience in a restaurant environment. Some fast casual or QSR experience is preferred. Assistant GM experience will be considered, but lead GM experience is ideal.
* Sound financial, budgeting and profit & loss (P&L) skills
* Track record of results, initiative and job stability
* Excellent leadership qualities and team building
* Proactive and self-motivated
* Highly organized, disciplined, focused and results oriented
* Understanding of current, best business practices and procedures in a fast causal, or QSR, environment is preferred
* Exceptional communications skills; proficiency in English is a must
* Strong computer & software aptitude with industry technology (NCR/Aloha)
