General Purpose

Tack Truck drivers for M. Luis is to be responsible for safely and productively operate and handle equipment, calibrate and operate distributor. This position will report to the M. Luis Product facility in Rockville, Maryland. Drives tack or distributor truck with capacity of 3,000 gallons, to transport emulsion to and from specified destinations, and applies product to road surfaces according to plan specifications.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities

The criteria for evaluation in this position include but are not limited to the following:
• Drives truck to destination in a safe and efficient manner.
• Assists crew with other tasks when not operating distributor truck.
• Must be on site at scheduled start time
• Ability to read a map or operate digital navigation devices/applications
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
• Responsible for loading truck from emulsion tank.
• Heat tack and operate tack truck
• Maintain proper maintenance of truck and distributor including tire pressure, fluid levels, etc
• Responsible for applying emulsion to road surface prior to paving.
• Protect areas that are not supposed to be primed
• Maintains telephone contact with supervisor on the job and dispatch
• Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor on the job, as well as directing paving trucks to job site.
• Maintain truck log according to state and federal regulations.
• Responsible for daily pre-trip inspection of truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
• Take beginning/ending rack readings and complete tack report
• Maintain truck log according to state and federal regulations
• Responsible for daily pre-trip inspection of truck
• Must be able to compete log books, vehicle inspection and site condition reports
• May need to accommodate for night and weekend work.
• Work within the company policies as outlined in the M. Luis Employee Handbook and in compliment with the M. Luis Safety Manual, Human Resources Manual and OSHA Safety Rules.
• Other duties as assigned
Licensing / Training

• Must have a CDL Class B driver's license with a Tank and Hazmat Endorsement and clean driving record. Class A preferred
• Tanker endorsement required, Hazmat required
• Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English
• Hold a current DOT Physical card or be able to obtain a current DOT Physical Card upon hire.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain, a current DOT Medical Qualification.

Knowledge and Experience

Must have at least 3 years of experience in operating a tack truck under a valid CDL class B license with a clean driving record.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Working Conditions and Safety Standards

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, reach, twist, bend, lifting a minimum of 45lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hand and fingers

Mandatory Work site safety apparel required daily and should be constantly accessible. Protective equipment that may be required for this position includes, but is not limited to:

• Hard Hat
• Safety Vest / High Visibility clothing
• Safety glasses (dependent upon conditions)
• Steel toed safety shoes (dependent upon condition)
• Gloves

A professional appearance and attitude is to be used and maintained while on duty and representing M. Luis Construction Co., Inc.
