We are looking for Sr. Project Manager/Program Managers to serve in a key, highly visible role with our client in Northern Virginia for 18 + months with the expectation for work after the engagement in the DC/Northern VA/Baltimore area.  We have several openings:

Our Sr. Project Managers work tactically and strategically to shape a project; factoring in risk areas and cultural challenges that might typically cause a project to derail.  We expect the Sr. PM/Program Manager to work projects with a “special forces” lens while directing the assigned tactical PM to run the day to day project responsibilities.  The role executes projects from start to finish using Bare Knuckled methodologies (which we will teach you).  In order to be successful with us, you will need to learn our way of structuring and driving projects to completion.  Our implementations don’t fail and we’ll show you how we do that.

Position Responsibilities

·         Partner with the tactical PM and project team to refine the project schedule, resource assignment, final review and approval for the strategy and plan;

·         Develop strategic options that meet the project goals and priorities with management, program manager and project sponsors;

·         Communicate a clear vision of the projects objectives;

·         Work with the Tactical PM to aggressively identify project risks, define the mitigation plans, address those risks the plan, build in “access portals” and communicate the risks to the project team (on-going participation);

·         Manage the development of all project planning documentation created by the tactical PM;

·         Motivate the cross functional project team to achieve vision;

·         Reinforce clear priorities among project activities and coordinate team activities to meet project milestones;

·         Oversight of the project budget;

·         Coach and mentor the tactical PM, clients and team members in project management practices;

·         Support the Tactical PM (who performs the basic blocking/tackling and day to day execution) as needed through the project life-cycle, act as a sounding board and backstop for escalated items, etc. (on-going participation), and;

·         Ensure quality and transparent project status reports with supporting project schedule are reported weekly

Desired Skills and Experience

·         Must be highly capable and willing to roll-up your sleeves and dig-in to get the job done;

·         Highly proficient in developing a project plan with resource assignments

·         Project budget management experience

·         Extremely knowledgeable and experienced using the tools and technologies of project management including MS Project, Office Suite including, Excel, Visio, WebEx, and SharePoint;

·         BS in any applicable discipline or make a case that your experience mitigates your lack of a college degree;

·         Multiple client engagements where you served as the project manager/program manager and the ability to summarize those engagements quickly, articulate project challenges, and how you captured value from the experience;

·         The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;

·         Experience with business intelligence solution development, data warehouse development, learning systems development, or other technology development to the extent that you are fluent in speaking about them;

·         Experience leading a team;

·         Willingness to travel to client locations when necessary and the ability to stay focused while working virtually;

·         An interest in growing your skills with others to become better than you were when you started.
