Environmental Document Specialist Sr. #00149
Prepares NEPA documents for highway transportation projects. Prepares other environmental documents including NEPA reevaluations, Section 4(f) evaluations, Agricultural and Forestal District Reports as mandated by the Code of Virginia and Section 6(f) agreements. Coordinates and implements State Environmental Review Process (SERP) and provides a determination of significance to design engineers. Reviews highway design plans/project description data to advocate options for avoidance, minimization and/or mitigation of environmental resource impacts. Provides oversight and quality control assistance to locality administered projects and alternative delivery projects with regards to all aspects of the environmental review process. Responds to inquiries related to the State Noise Abatement Policy and program. Coordinates with multi-disciplinary environmental staff. Maintains the Comprehensive Environmental Data And Reporting System and associated databases on a monthly basis.
Proactively works with inter-disciplinary team of planners, designers, engineers, environmental scientists, citizens, and state and/or federal agency personnel. Represents the Department in various agency and public involvement programs and meetings and responds to public inquiries and complaints.
