The Compliance Inspections and Examinations program administers the SEC's nationwide examination and inspection program for registered self-regulatory organizations, NRSROs, broker-dealers, transfer agents, clearing agencies, investment companies, and investment advisers. The Compliance Inspections and Examinations program conducts inspections to foster compliance with securities laws, to detect violations, and keep the Commission informed of developments in the regulated community. The employee is assigned to the Compliance Inspections and Examinations program and serves as a unit supervisor and as a senior advisor providing information technology advice, counsel, and recommendations for a highly sophisticated and sensitive area involving the securities market and SEC operations.

This position is in the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations.  A selection will be made in one of the following locations:  Washington, DC OR Chicago, IL.

Chicago, IL       - $126,046 - $211,188

Washington, DC - $124,681 - $208,901

If selected, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing information technology advice, counsel, and recommendations for a highly sophisticated and sensitive area involving the securities market and SEC operations.

Typical Duties Include:

·         Supervises a group of employees performing work at the SK-09 through SK-14 grade levels. 

·         Plans and conducts analyses of securities exchange operational practices and requirements to evaluate securities industry computer systems requirements and to improve self-regulatory organizations’ response to market activity.

·         Develops policies, guidelines, and standards for the planning, development, integration, implementation, and evaluation of information technology systems and subsystems that meet overall information needs of multiple major organizational units.

·         Provides expert advice and guidance on broad projects and programs with national impact related to the SEC’s Technology Controls program.

·         Provides authoritative guidance related to the securities industry IT security program.

·         Develops long-range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.

·         Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.

·         Participates in market operations reviews, cyber security engineering programs: perform IT security audits at different SROs; and assist with development and maintenance of examination field work materials.

·         Conduct assessments of the IT architecture of the SROs and prepare written reports of such assessments.

·         Perform reviews and risk assessments to identify specific risks.

·         Provides expert advice and guidance on broad projects and programs with national impact related to the SEC’s Technology Controls program.
