Reporting to the Executive Director (ED) of Leadership Gifts, the Coordinator manages the daily operations of the Leadership Gifts team and assists with high level tasks under the direction of the ED. Leadership Gifts is dedicated to guiding the University’s relationship-building efforts with prospective donors having the capacity to contribute $1 million and more in annual giving. Currently there are more than 600 such prospects.

Leaderships Gifts has special responsibility for the 120 highest capacity prospects (with giving capacities of $5M to $100M+) and actively coordinates, guides, and supports the cultivation-solicitation-stewardship activity conducted by the University’s president, VP of University Relations and other vice presidents, deans, senior development officers, and volunteers. During the upcoming campaign, it is projected that Leadership Gifts will be responsible, directly and indirectly, for generating $650 million in gift support.

The Coordinator position is pivotal to the success of Leadership Gifts. On a daily basis, he/she manages “up” in support of the ED and Associate Director of Leadership Gifts, and also directs activities in support of the team’s mission, including the evaluation, tracking, database entry, and reporting on Leadership Gifts prospects. He/she arranges and helps prepare for meetings with the President, VPUR, Provost, deans, chief development officers and others for the purpose of developing outreach strategies and action steps; assesses progress against goals; and produces written and data reports.

This person will work with a variety of internal constituents, including development officers; staff in the offices of the President, VPUR, Provost, and VPAA; and other coordinators and support personnel throughout University Relations and across campus. He/she will also communicate by phone and e-mail with prospective donors and their staff to make appointments and handle other business on behalf of the ED and Associate Director as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, education, and training in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the
work of the job class may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of experience beyond the education requirement working in an administrative support role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate will have excellent organizational, analytical and writing skills, and be adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential. He/she must be able to communicate clearly in person and in writing and have proficiency with various software packages (such as Microsoft Office-MS Excel, MS Word, Internet Explorer, Outlook). A self-starter, he/she must possess the ability to learn and become adept with new technologies, and have an understanding of databases and the ability to manipulate excel files to organize large numbers of records. He/she must understand standard procedures and policies and have the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. The successful candidate must also be able to handle sensitive matters with discretion and absolute confidentiality. A professional, collegial and customer-friendly style is very important.

PREFERENCES:

Experience in a fundraising or communications organization and within higher education preferred.

Familiarity with fundraising a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Physical Demands of the Position: Traditional office environment. Occasionally and with advance notice be available to work evenings and weekends for special events and projects.

The salary range for this position is $44,000s to $ 56,000.
