JSI is seeking a bright, highly motivated individual who is well-versed in managing and guiding web projects and enjoys being part of a team that creates impactful online products. The Web Services Manager position will work on the Knowledge Management Services contract to support the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Global Health. This position will report to the Project Director and manage a 4-person Web Team supporting and maintaining USAID's Global Health websites, social media presence and e-newsletters. The candidate must be a quick learner with time-management and people management skills, customer-focused, flexible, adaptive, self-starter who is able to work independently and in a team environment.

The Web Services Manager will plan and manage activities and projects that support USAID/GH web services. The position will provide leadership and direction in planning, developing, and maintaining more than eight web environments, multiple e-newsletter and social media accounts. The position is responsible for the exploration, implementation, testing and maintenance of new technology. The Web Services Manager is expected to provide strategic direction and leadership for project management, customer service processes, and software selection and support.

USAID programs in global health represent the commitment and determination of the American people to prevent suffering, save lives, and create a brighter future for men, women, and children in the developing world. USAID’s Bureau for Global Health supports in-country health programs, advances research and innovation, and transfers new technologies to the field through its own staff, coordination with donors, and partnerships with a variety of international health organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The major day-to-day functions of the Web Services Manager include, but are not limited to: 

  • Managing and supporting a 4-person Web team consisting of the Web Content Editors, the Jr Social Media Specialist and the Web Interface Designer. Responsibilities include supervising staff, hiring, assignment and review of work, performance evaluation, mentoring and training, and identifying opportunities for staff development. 
  • Participates in all phases of projects including development, design, testing and production. This requires familiarity with web programming languages (such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, ASP) and web production tools (such as Adobe Creative Suite, Drupal, SiteFinity, etc.).
  • Monitor and update content for multiple USAID Global Health websites and suggest areas of improvement as well as edit content for consistency and accuracy by recognizing discrepancies in language, layout or formatting.
  • Create and analyze monthly website, e-newsletter and social media traffic reports using Google Analytics, Facebook Analytics, and Twitalyzer.
  • Assist in making all documents and websites 508 compliant for government use.
  • Follow USAID standards, branding guidelines, procedures and methodologies for content creation, organization, distribution and acting as a source of information on these requirements.
  • Maintaining a professional working relationship with all USAID/GH contacts and delegate all web work that comes through from the client and routinely assess and seeks out feedback for all web sites. 
  • Research social networking opportunities that will lead to enhancements to further GH’s online reach.
  • Working closely with graphic designers and developers on infographics, web design, mock-ups, wireframes and any dynamic websites.
  • Taking initiative to follow up with each party regarding their progress to ensure they are on track and able to meet their deadlines.
  • Manage and create the budgets for 35 web, e-newsletter and social media tasks.
  • Assist, consult and stay current on new or current dynamic/database-driven website projects within USAID.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, computer science or related field with a minimum of five to eight years' information technology experience in a business setting.
  • The ability to think strategically, execute projects and develop efficient solutions to complex business problems as well as strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage change and coach those you work with to move in the right direction to keep projects on point, on budget and on schedule.
  • Excellent written, oral and problem solving skills are required. 
  • Familiarity with global health and international development.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of interactive communications, website usability, user interface design, and all social media platforms.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize work, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines.

Salary commensurate with experience.
