We are currently looking for an Industry Analyst to join our team.  Reporting to the Vice President of  Industry Intelligence Group, the Industry Analyst is responsible for managing and aggregating the financial surveys, reviewing and internalizing the report process and will lead projects to ensure the operational effectiveness and excellence of the Industry Intelligence Group.

Desired Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, database management, business intelligence, and/or economics, and 3 - 5 years of comparable work experience;

Knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing operating environment and organizational management, with an understanding of these areas of specialization: research, data collection and analysis and marketing;

Advanced experience with an understanding of computers and business software applications;

Leadership ability, project management ability, facilitation and motivation skills, strong organization, interpersonal, oral & written communication, and analytical skills;

Presentation and negotiation skills;

The ability to plan, organize and direct the work of a work team


JOB DESCRIPTION:

Design, improve, produce and report on financial surveys; collect, disseminate and manage financial information, market data, and statistics relating to the manufacturing technology industry in support of the financial, economic, market, and business planning functions of the Industry Intelligence department and identify vendors for data and programming.


Primary Job Functions:

Manage all of the production aspects of financial reporting programs including data verification, identify potential vendors, managing vendor relationships, data analysis, confidentiality issues, database maintenance, software development, report generation and report distribution.

Provide domestic and international market intelligence to promote the membership’s global advancement.

Investigate, research, and estimate data needed to fulfill on-demand market research requests on financial and business issues.

Research, analyze and respond to member requests for information about the manufacturing technology and related industries, including end-user industries.

Prepare papers, reports and presentations for use by members and staff in relation to the responsibilities of the position.

Develop, maintain and improve documentation of departmental work processes to capture best known practices.

Participate in efforts to market statistical programs and recruit new participants

Research and identify new data sources or changes in existing data sources that may potentially be used by the department or MTInsight.

Write articles for submission to AMT monthly reports and publications.

Assist in the planning and coordination of projects related to the Economics and Statistics

Committee and AMT product groups.  Represent the department at meetings of these groups as assigned.

Assist in the planning and coordination of projects related to member meetings and conferences for which the department is responsible.

Oversee AMT’s relationships with partners and vendors supplying data, information and programming for benchmarking surveys.

Create and implement processes that improve member and staff productivity with respect to data   acquisition, warehousing, and utilization.

Actively participate in the relationship that AMT builds with data and software partners in MTInsight.

Identify customer needs for new business intelligence applications and manage the app development process.

Monitor, measure and analyze the performance of departmental products and services to develop and implement improvement strategies.

Develop new and maintain existing documentation of departmental work processes.

Assist in the development and management of departmental and project-based budgets to ensure appropriate use of Association resources.

Administer activities relative to job function in the implementation of AMT’s strategic plan.

Be able to extract and analyze data from databases using MSAccess and SQL queries.

Perform other duties, as assigned.

Provide data and represent the department at association committee meetings in connection with responsibilities of the position.

Work with outside vendors and subcontractors on departmental projects and MTInsight development (i. e., authors of market studies and reports, web site and software enhancements, data providers and collaborators, etc.)

Establish and maintain relationships with international analysts and federal officials who work with the manufacturing technology industries.

Collect and disseminate industry market intelligence and data to personnel from member companies.

Respond to questions and inquiries from members and other organizations and companies relative to the responsibilities of the position.


Consult, communicate, and provide feedback on benchmarking surveys to relevant committees, product groups, and their staff liaison.


Consult, communicate, and provide feedback to other organizations on benchmarking surveys conducted on their behalf.

Consult, confer with and train association staff on projects and work processes for which the position is responsible.

Provide information and advice for decision-making to other Association departments.

Communicate and share progress on work processes and projects with supervisor and other members of departmental staff.

This position:

Has no supervisory responsibility; however considerable influence on the actions of members or others outside the Association;

Has considerable impact on the internal productivity and on the reputation of the association;

Requires significant problem solving judgment and/or investigation to carry out more complex procedures and/or recommend causes of action;

Has project management responsibility.  Consists of work that may involve interpretation, development and/or implementation of procedures, programs and systems;

Has technical latitude to accomplish work assignments of self and/or others; work is generally reviewed in terms of work results.
