The University of Maryland, College Park has an opportunity for a Manager to lead the Development Support and Standards group within the Division of Information Technology. The Development Support and Standards group is responsible for the 24x7 operation and development of the campus Kuali Rice implementation as well as providing leadership, guidance, and administration for standard software development tools and methodologies.
The Manager leads a team of software engineers (junior to senior) and performs a range of managerial duties including interviewing, hiring, terminations, salary adjustments, mentoring, coaching, performance review, and staff development. The position manages the day-to-day development activities and is responsible for the associated tasks within the software development life cycle, including planning, coordination, testing, documentation, and ensuring the quality of deliverables. The Manager is expected to provide consistent and clear written and verbal communications, monitor individual and team progress, and proactively address schedule issues as necessary. At times, this position requires hands-on software development to complete initiatives on time. Position may require some travel.
To be eligible, applicants must hold a Bachelors Degree, preferably in computer science, technical management or related field. Applicants must have at least 1 year of experience as a Software Engineering Team Lead or Manager, 5 or more years of software development experience in object oriented languages and services development, 2 or more years of hands on experience with Kuali Rice and related technologies and frameworks, and 2 or more years of experience of using Agile methodology and SCRUM. Preference will be given to candidates with 2 years or more of increasing responsibility including mentoring, managing, coaching and/or directing other software engineers and
experienced in the use and administration of the Atlassian suite of software development tools and services.
Salary range is $92,000 to $115,000 with qualifications. Excellent leave, medical coverage, retirement, and tuition-remission benefits.
