Location: Stafford, VA

Serves as a project manager to effectively utilize staff and financial resources to deliver transportation construction and maintenance projects in the Fredericksburg District on-time and on-budget. Develops projects scopes and implements procedures to manage project development from preliminary engineering through construction. Assembles, leads, and coordinates activities for project teams of preliminary engineering and construction staff, consultants, local government officials, FHWA reps, and stakeholders. Determines causes of schedule delays or problems, recommends solutions, and implements solutions. Manages project budgets and is responsible for maintaining the budget utilizing project management applications to ensure project meet budgetary objectives. Communicates program directives to project team members. Develops and communicates project summaries and status reports. Manages communication and coordination between project team members and stakeholders. Schedules and coordinates team meetings and milestone reviews. Responds to project inquiries from agency staff, public, media, officials, and stakeholder groups.

Minimum Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of transportation project management, design, construction, and engineering principles and practices; of the transportation project development and integration process; and of state laws, policies, and regulations related to transportation program delivery; project management principles and practices; and project scheduling and budgeting practices. Ability to understand and apply engineering principles and design standards. Ability to lead plan, coordinate, and manage the work of interdisciplinary teams on multiple projects. Skill in the use of MicroStation or other CADD programs, MS Project or similar scheduling software and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from college with major studies in engineering or related curriculum. Extensive experience managing projects in the transportation engineering industry and/or a combination of education and work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job. PE License, EIT, or certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) considered a plus.

Special Requirements
Valid Operator's License required. Fingerprint background check, references, work history and DMV records will be verified prior to employment. Selected candidate must complete Conflict of Interest Training and Statement of Economic Interest at time of employment and annually thereafter. Position considered designated and may be required to work outside normal work schedule in emergency or severe weather events.
