Assistant District Engineer L & D, Fredericksburg District #15688
Location: Stafford, VA

Fredericksburg District is seeking an engineering manager for this position who will assist in the overall management of the District L & D Section. The position will oversee the development of project schedules and budgets by design team leaders. Will be responsible for overseeing the development of road design and plan development for all in house projects and manage the QC program ensuring quality and constructability of construction plan sets. Will oversee and review engineering plans from outside consultants and land development office and assist area construction engineers with requests for information and issue resolution. Position will provide supervisory guidance and leadership to road design team; and proactively manage human and fiscal resources and maintain exceptional public relations with citizens, city/county officials and other agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated extensive knowledge of roadway design criteria, construction methods, standards, roadway safety, specifications and materials; of Civil Engineering principles as they relate to roadway design/standard design technical knowledge, to ensure compliance with department standards, specifications and policies/procedures. Proficient skill to train others effectively to plan and schedule work; in effective communication, both orally and in writing, with diverse groups; in leadership, coaching, counseling and managing design professionals; and to recognize employee development needs and facilitate development plans to enhance employee performance. Demonstrated high level skill to build networks and build relationships with manager from other divisions/agencies; and to manage the delivery of exemplary customer service by self and others. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and/or related field. Professional Engineer's License (PE) required.

Preferred Qualifications
Management level work experience in highway civil engineering. Progressively responsible experience in managing multiple road design teams. Experience with design build procurement and plan reviews. Microsoft Office software experience.

Special Requirements

Valid operator's license. References, work history will be verified. Requires satisfactory completion of a fingerprint based criminal history check and DMV driving check. Position is designated to work during emergency operations and may be required to work outside normal working hours.
