The Lycée Rochambeau – French International School educates generations of bilingual, bicultural and internationally-minded students from PreK through 12th grade. Located on 3 campuses in

Bethesda MD, Rochambeau welcomes approximately 1000 students of more than 60 nationalities. Students can receive both the US high school diploma and the French Baccalaureat allowing them to continue their studies in top colleges and universities around the world. The school has a strong academic focus with a curriculum that is based on the French National Curriculum. Rochambeau is a truly multicultural and diverse community, one in which students no matter their backgrounds can find their place.





The Director of Admissions works with Director of Advancement to develop a strategy for Admissions including long term objectives and an annual action plan to meet school-wide admission and enrollment goals.  Overall, the director of admission is charged with:

·        overseeing the admissions cycle including outreach to potential families, managing the relationship with inquiring families, the application and acceptance process as well as retention of current families

·        developing strong relationships with potential and current parents, staff and faculty of the school as well as leaders in key local organizations and affiliated communities

·        improving upon the school’s admission systems; overseeing the implementation of an application process

·        activating the school community—staff, faculty, students, parents-- in support of the admission process

·        working in concert with the Leadership Team to help make Rochambeau the choice of school in the Washington DC area for internationally minded families



·        Develops long and short term admission strategies to meet annual admission goals in compliance with the NAIS and AIMS Principles of Good Practice

·        Identifies and makes contact with potential sources of future applicants including Embassies, international organization and corporations

·        Plans and organizes recruitment events including open houses, fairs and other gatherings of potential applicants

·        Puts into place Admissions practices that are in line with local private schools including an application process

·        Develops the school’s inquiry database and manages the relationship with these potential families; maintains regular contact helping to keep these families connected

·        Provides regular update on key admissions measurements

·        Organizes and trains select staff and faculty to assume various roles and shared responsibilities in the admissions process.

·        Develops relationships with local feeder schools and other local organizations

·        Develops and oversees the creation of a Parent Ambassadors program to support the admissions office

·        In coordination with the School Directors, develops and puts into place a new family/student orientation process

·        Manages on campus visits

·        Oversees the re-enrollment process including the retention of current families

·        Manages a process for exit interviews and assure that former families contact are up-to-date when they become alumni

·        Member of the Financial Aid Committee, helps to develop financial aid policies that will support the school’s enrollment goals and the school’s desire to maintain a socio-economically diverse population

·        Supervises and supports an Admissions Associate

·        Job will require evening and/or weekend availability


Experience and qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

·       Team player with high energy and noted strength in developing and building relationships

·       Strong writer and communicator; comfortable presenting to diverse audiences

·       Organized with an eye to detail

·       Private school admissions experience or strong equivalent

·       International background or experience working with people from diverse nationalities

·       Ideally bilingual English/French, other languages are a plus

·       Passionate about education, knowledge of the French education system

·       Entrepreneurial spirit

·       Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in various roles across the organization

·       Proven track record of success in marketing the school

·       A strong asset is the knowledge of the French Education Curriculum


Salary commensurate with experience.
