Oil and Gas E&P Project Analyst
Independent Project Analysis, Inc. Our headquarters in Ashburn, Virginia, seeks Project Analysts who study the factors that determine success in complex, technologically advanced projects in the oil and gas industry. We have a number of permanent career-track positions available in our Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Practice area. We are looking for candidates of strong character and intellectual curiosity, with very strong analytical skills who seek a long-term opportunity.
Our client portfolio includes most of the leading companies in the process industries around the world, including the major oil and gas industry players. IPA has offices in the United States, the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, China, Australia, Brazil and Singapore; as such, major industry leaders worldwide rely on us to assess the health of their capital project systems and provide recommendations to improve their performance. We examine cost, schedule, operational effectiveness, and construction safety, with a strong focus on the front-end activities that drive project success. The IPA project databases are unique and serve as one of the most comprehensive sources of capital project experience in existence. With our growing body of research analysts, IPA also takes a leading role in statistical research into the drivers of better projects, using our extensive databases of past project performance.
Responsibilities of the Project Analyst include collecting and analyzing data, writing reports, giving client presentations, and working with clients to improve their capital project competitiveness. Responsibilities also include the ability to conduct research on the drivers of project success and failure using statistics and the database.
Applicants should have the following:
- Masters degree (or higher) or equivalent in petroleum engineering or allied fields
- 2-5 years of experience in the oil and gas E&P industry
- Very strong quantitative analytical skills
- Interpersonal skills to maintain and develop relationships at senior levels within client companies
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to write research reports competently in English
- Ability and willingness to travel
