  • You will troubleshoot high-pressure piping systems and determines need for modification and/or repair to insure proper and safe operation.
  • You will determine the proper slant, slope, fall, or level of installation to provide for proper flow, drainage, and sanitary operating conditions.
  • You will utilize safety practices and procedures by following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • You will demonstrate the use of plumbing tools and equipment to make installations/repairs.
  • You will interpret blueprints, charts and sketches to install or modification high pressure piping systems.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

PIPEFITTER without more than normal supervision performing: 1) Installing and modifying new and existing high-pressure piping systems and
equipment; 2) Planning, laying out and installing piping systems and equipment from blueprints, sketches, etc.; 3) Repairing leaks, clearing
stoppage, and making changes for proper functions. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes
tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

A 40 hour work week is typical for this position.

Incumbent makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the systems and equipment worked on are in
hard-to-reach places. The work involves standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dust, and greasy. May be required to make installations and repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of uncomfortable heat conditions. The work may involve exposure to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and infections. May occasionally be exposed to the possibility of broken bones.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation
incentive may be authorized.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
