Information Technology Services is responsible for AARP enterprise-wide technology and information security functions. Services range from infrastructure design and operations, system and software lifecycle implementations, enabling the mobile workforce and protecting AARP network, systems and data. A variety of technologies and practices are used including cloud computing, automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning within highly collaborative Agile teams.
Are you a rising junior or graduate student seeking to put into practice your solid computer science, technology, business, and people skills? Do you have a passion for thinking and acting agilely and implementing ideas that impact the 50+ community? Then, AARP's Information Technology Services (ITS) team is looking for you! As an information technology intern, you will apply strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to solve challenging technology problems. On any given day, you could work with IT Engineers, Platform Managers, Business Partners, or IT Executives focusing on solutions to advance the AARP mission. We'll challenge you to think in new ways, and we will cultivate your continued learning and development. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of Summer 2024, with the possibility of extending additional semesters.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for prototyping various technologies, including generative AI systems
- Meet with key leaders in the Information Technology Services department and learn how we design, deliver, operate, and promote technology solutions that enable AARP to achieve its goals
- Contribute to data analyses and write-up of findings
- Learn and apply AARP's Design Thinking framework to understand how we achieve results and outcomes
- Learn and apply Agile principles and practices while working with AARP capability and platform teams
- Collaborate with AARP technology stakeholders, providing service solutions
- Enhancing overall system security, performance, and availability
- Construct, implement, and deploy process-centric Business Process Management solutions
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
- Enrolled in an undergraduate-level degree-seeking program related to math, statistics, scientific computing, data and analytics, business analytics, marketing, or a related field
- Advanced problem-solving skills using logic and data; willingness and capacity to learn quickly and apply new knowledge
- Ability to articulate complex technical issues to those not as experienced
- Proven analytical skills and excellent written and oral communication abilities
- College-level experience with coding practices and languages (such as Java, C/C++, Python, or others)
- Experience with popular business tools (Windows, Office Professional, Visio, SharePoint, etc.); advanced user of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
