Director, Software Engineering

Come join my teams in Enterprise Data & Machine Learning group to build a highly scalable, well governed, data ecosystem that scales across 1000's of AWS accounts, tens of thousands of database instances and millions of files stored across enterprise. You will have the opportunity to shape the way we share and protect data with external parties. You will be responsible for successfully managing petabytes of data that powers internal systems & various personna's interfacing with the platforms across different lines of business. You will also build a data pipeline to efficiently move the data through the ecosystem and bring a focus on being well governed through building appropriate access control mechanisms.

In this role you will work on building highly scalable distributed data platforms.. You will bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: REST, Python, Javascript, Java, NoSQL/Relational databases, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few.

Responsibilities:
  • Interface with product leadership to understand requirements, reimagine technical solutions and drive agile teams towards innovative delivery
  • Build awareness, increase knowledge and drive adoption of enterprise platforms ,understand customer pain points to solve key challenges.
  • Build and lead high-performing, agile teams focused on Data Engineering and Software Engineering engineering excellence
  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability and cost effectiveness of your solutions
  • Lead the way in creating next-generation talent for Tech, mentoring internal talent and actively recruiting external talent to bolster Capital One's Tech talent
  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, integrate systems with other vendor products
  • Partner with other technical teams in the organization to create leverage for your teams, and collaborate on large scale program delivery


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 7 years of experience in software or data engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience in people management
  • At least 5 years of building distributed applications on AWS cloud


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in Agile practices
  • 5+ years of experience building full stack softwares micro services
  • 2+ experience using AWS serverless technologies
  • Prior hands on experience coding in Java, Python or Spark

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $269,400 - $307,500 for Director, Software Engineering

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
