About the Department:

The Equitable and Accessible Software to Detect Injuries (EAS-ID) Project was created to address the disparity in visualizing bruises on darker skin tones. Solving this problem has the potential to positively impact the lives and health outcomes for the millions of Americans with darker skin who are victims of violence annually in addition to many more millions across the world. A large philanthropic donation supporting this impactful research of Drs. Scafide (CPH), Lattanzi (CEC), and Wojtusiak (CPH) was made to the University and has enabled the creation of this Unit with this very important and specific purpose.

About the Position:

The Budget and Administration Analyst reports directly to a Principal Investigator for the Equitable and Accessible Software to Detect Injuries (EAS-ID) and is a key team member supporting the execution of the EAS-ID Project Goals. This position's main purpose is to provide leadership for all financial and administrative functions of the EAS-ID project. This position ensures that all EAS-ID reports are complete and timely and that all financial transactions comply with university policy and Funder requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Budget and Financial:
    • Provide oversight of the financial operations of the EAS-ID project to include: accounting and financial transactions including but not limited to accounts payable and receivable, receivables reporting, reconciliation, revenue/expenditure forecasting, and year-end financial closeouts;
    • Develop an annual operating budget based on strategic plans and operational realities;
    • Prepare procurement solicitations and act as contract administrator as needed;
    • Provide budget management in a timely and efficient manner, with attention given to the accuracy of detail;
    • Produce regular reports of fiscal activities and provide analysis of project status;
    • Be knowledgeable about goals and objectives and contribute to tasks and activities related to their achievement; and
    • Ensure that all purchases meet the Funder requirements, budgetary guidelines, and university procurement policies.
  • Operations:
    • Provide project management reporting;
    • Manage the procurement of facilities, maintenance, contracted services, events management;
    • Liaison to relevant Mason offices, including CHP Office of Research, Fiscal Services, Facilities, OSP, and the Associate Dean of Research CPH (College of Public Health); and
    • Serve as the organizational administrator of university policies, rules, and regulations for administrative and program services.
  • Strategic and Administrative:
    • Under the direction of the EAS-ID PI's, execute special projects, strategies and processes that will ensure the project goals, standards, and objectives;
    • Maintain all legal agreements with partner organizations; and
    • Develop strong collaborative professional relationships across a variety of functions and institutional units to support an integrated, transparent, and high-functioning organization.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and supervising administrative, financial, and operational functions;
  • Skills:
    • Clear and effective communication skills (verbal and written);

  • Knowledge:
    • Budgeting and forecasting;

    • Demonstrated organizational ability;
    • Proficient in time management and scheduling; and
    • Exercise sound and independent judgment and address complex issues with minimal or no supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in project management;
  • Demonstrated progressively responsible experience;
  • Experience as an organizational administrator applying knowledge of George Mason University policies, rules, and regulations for program business operations; and
  • Working knowledge of eVA purchasing system; Banner.
