About the Department:

The objective for Film and Video Studies is to 1) Offer courses leading to a BA in Film and Video offering concentrations in directing and producing, production and post-production (cinematography, editing, and sound), and screenwriting. 2) Coordinate (and co-coordinate) series of public film screenings, student showcases, and visiting artist speakers series. 3) Support a cohesive faculty and staff to carry out objectives 1 and 2.

About the Position:

Film and Video Studies at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA is looking for an Adjunct Instructor for Fall 2024 semester to teach courses in Sound Editing and Recording. Courses begin August 19 and run for 15 weeks to the first week in December.

Candidates must have teaching experience and extensive work in Sound Editing and Recording. A terminal degree (MFA) is recommended, but not required for this opportunity. Please see information for adjunct instructors at Mason.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach Film Sound Editing and Recording; and
  • Participate in Department initiatives, including meetings, screenings, festivals, etc.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Sound or Film;
  • Successful experience teaching college level;
  • Ability to work with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds; and
  • Established reputation as a Sound Artist.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Sound or Film.
