Job Description   

The Data Architect will lead the design, implementation and life cycle management of NOVA’s data infrastructure and systems. The position will collaborate with various stakeholders to create data architecture solutions and to ensure efficient and effective data management and utilization across the institution.

 

Duties and Tasks:

  • Design and develop data architecture strategies that align with the institution’s goals and objectives, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security of data systems. Collaborate with stakeholders, both internally and externally to understand their data requirements and translate them into data architecture solutions, taking into consideration data integration, data quality, data governance, and assess existing data systems. identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies for data consolidation, migration, and modernization. Create and maintain data models, data dictionaries, and data flow diagrams to document and communicate the structure and relationships of data entities. Work closely with IT teams to implement and optimize data storage, data processing, and data retrieval systems, leveraging appropriate technologies and tools. Define, publish and enforce data standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency across the institution.

 

KSA's/Required Qualifications         

Required KSAs:

  • Strong knowledge of data architecture principles, methodologies, and best practices, with expertise in data modeling, data integration, and data management. Strong knowledge and ability in SQL, scripting languages and data tools for data manipulation and transformation. Strong knowledge of data pipeline and workflow management tools. Knowledge in architecting data warehousing and business intelligence solutions. Knowledge of Software as a service (SaaS) applications, and their integration from a dataflow perspective. Ability to create data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, and/or Excel. Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Server, as well as cloud technologies. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical data solutions. Ability to keep up to date knowledge of industry trends and standards. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate verbally and in writing to a wide audience. The ability to deliver quality systems within a management-approved schedule, and to work on technical teams as needed. Ability to lead/manage projects and be accountable for project development and execution; manage the details of a project while remaining aware of the overall application/business requirements.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in data architecture principles, methodologies, and best practices, with expertise in data modeling, data integration, and data management; SQL, scripting languages and data tools for data manipulation and transformation; use and application of workflow management tools. Significant experience in architecting data warehousing and business intelligence solutions. Significant experience of Software as a service (SaaS) applications, and their integration from a dataflow perspective. Significant experience in creating data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, and/or Excel. Significant experience in Linux and Windows Server, as well as cloud technologies. Significant experience in analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical data solutions. Significant experience keeping up to date knowledge of industry trends and standards. Significant experience with communicating verbally and writing to a wide audience. Significant experience to deliver quality systems within a management-approved schedule, and to work on technical teams as needed. Significant experience in leading/managing projects and accountability for project development and execution; manage the details of a project while remaining aware of the overall application/business requirements.

 

Additional Considerations                 

  • Extensive experience developing data systems. Extensive experience working with data modeling tools and techniques, such as ER modeling, dimensional modeling, and metadata management. Extensive hands-on experience with database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and data integration technologies (e.g., ETL tools, APIs). Significant experience across the entire spectrum of data engineering, including data stores, data pipeline and workflow orchestration, and data messaging. Significant experience of data warehousing technologies, current business intelligence reporting tools and project management skills. Significant experience in the design, planning and development of a data warehouse.
