Law Enforcement Specialist (Instructor) (Annuitant and ICTAP Only)

The selectee will serve as a Law Enforcement Specialist (Instructor) (Criminal Investigation) in the Office of Training, James J. Rowley Training Center. Typical work assignments include:
  • Developing and instructing a variety of advanced instructional methods to instruct students from basic to advanced techniques in the specialty area.
  • Researching to provide problem-solving assistance designed to improve training and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensuring courses accurately meet current training standards founded on industry standards, Federal Law Enforcement Accreditation, and United States Secret Service.
  • Adhering to standards and processes which influence the updates of guidelines and manuals to ensure compliance with current regulations and policies.
  • Observing, evaluating, guiding, and mentoring students in their progress relative to training objectives.

You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $94,199) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as:
  • Coordinating, developing, and instructing law enforcement courses related to financial investigations;
  • Coordinating with law enforcement agencies to determine current and future curriculum content;
  • Providing professional and technical information to managers, employees and students.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

These positions are being announced to recruit CSRS and FERS annuitants on a limited basis with a waiver of salary offset (if a dual compensation waiver is requested) under certain specified circumstances not to exceed DEC 31, 2024.

Re-employed annuitants are at-will employees and therefore, can be separated at any time for any legitimate reason. There are no notice requirements and the annuitants have no Reduction in Force (RIF) protections.
