About the Position:This position is responsible for supporting the operational and planning functions of the Division for Enrollment Management by analyzing enrollment, admissions, recruitment, scholarship, financial aid, and academic data. Specifically, the position is responsible for producing both quantitative and qualitative reporting; and will provide information analyses that relates to setting enrollment goals and objectives, recruitment strategy, institutional aid leveraging, marketing, and retention strategies to inform decision-making. Creating, monitoring, tracking, and reporting appropriate metrics to inform and guide operational decisions and actions are important aspects of the Data Analyst's work.Responsibilities:Uses institutional databases, purchased data from vendors, market research, and governmental data to provide insight into the student recruitment process through data mining and analysis;Performs market analyses and competitor analyses;Creates, monitors, tracks, and reports appropriate metrics on a weekly, monthly, and ad hoc basis; andResponds to data requests from other campus units and provides a range of reports or datasets for use by those departments.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;Demonstrated experience with data analysis, program evaluation, or research;Demonstrated experience with extracting data from multiple sources, merging that data and finding and resolving inconsistencies;Demonstrated experience with performing data quality analysis on datasets and reports;Some experience with Banner, Salesforce or other relational databases or CRMs;Some experience with BI visualization tools - such as MicroStrategy or Tableau to build customized dashboards for use by both internal and external clients;Some experience with SQL, SAS, Python, R or similar programing languages for querying data sources, performing the appropriate analysis, and creating visualizations;Project management experience;Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel;Exceptional quantitative skills and attention to detail;Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills;Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills;Exceptional communication skills; andAbility to communicate knowledge and ideas in a consultative matter to a variety of audiences including senior leadership.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;Considerable experience with data analysis, program evaluation, or research;Considerable experience with extracting data from multiple sources, merging that data and finding and resolving inconsistencies;Considerable experience with performing data quality analysis on datasets and reports;Considerable experience with BI visualization tools - such as MicroStrategy or Tableau to build customized dashboards for use by both internal and external clients;Experience in predictive modeling, forecasting, and regression techniques using tools such as Python, R, SAS, SPSS, etc.;Experience in SQL development;Experience working with university administration;Experience in interpersonal relations as they relate to interactions with various levels of university administrators;Experience developing forecasting and tracking models that integrate a variety of statistical and financial information; andDemonstrated knowledge of strategic and enrollment management/modeling principles, methods, and practices.
