Transfer Admissions CounselorThe George Mason University, Office of Admissions, is seeking a Transfer Admissions Counselor to join an energetic recruitment team. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions, the incumbent will support the University's strategic plan and enrollment goals in yielding talented and diverse new transfers.George Mason University has an institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Represent the University at visits and college fairs;Conduct outreach via multi-channel communication with prospective students and applicants;Review transfer applications and render admission decisions;Represent the university at on-campus and virtual recruitment events;Conduct information sessions, presentations, and one-on-one appointments in person and virtually for prospective students and families;Staff the Office of Transfer Services and fulfill counselor of the day functions to meet with prospective applicants and families;Collaborate with other team members across the University and within the Office of Admissions;Serve as a Mason representative for student appointments on community college campuses;Support ADVANCE Mason Virginia Promise (MVP) expansion via visits to community colleges in Virginia;Assist in the processing of MVP declarations and matriculation;Provide excellent customer service; andOvernight recruitment travel and occasional evening and weekend work is required.Required Qualifications:Demonstrated cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills, including public speaking skills, and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations;Willingness and ability to travel extensively;Availability for evening and weekend work;Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information and situations;Ability to prioritize tasks in a hectic, deadline-driven environment, often working on multiple tasks concurrently;Information technology literacy and willingness to learn new software applications;Proven ability to work positively as a team member;Comfortable and able to make independent decisions;Demonstrated customer service experience; andMust currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/.
