Verification Specialist This is a non-student wage position. Current GMU students not eligible to apply. The George Mason University, Office of Student Financial Aid is seeking a dedicated and well-organized Verification Specialist to provide support to our Processing team in their daily operations. Responsibilities:This position will be responsible for the day-to-day verification processes such as:Collect and process documentation required for students selected for verification in accordance with federal regulations;Obtain additional documentation if conflicting information is identified;Notify students via email regarding outstanding requirements/conflicting information;Manage financial aid inquiries via Salesforce in an efficient and timely manner;Input data into Ellucian Banner;Serve as point of contact between the Verification team and MSSC Front-Desk Services. Duties include responding to instant message inquiries/questions from both MSSC front-desk staff, student, and parents;Cataloging and indexing documents via ApplicationXtender;Confirm student immigration status using the Department of Homeland Security SAVE system; andProcessing and downloading verification documents that come in through Dynamic Forms.The selected candidate will be given training and access to appropriate Mason systems and must be able to handle confidential information and data as per Mason's policies. Current Mason students are not eligible to receive access to some of these systems and therefore cannot be considered for this position. Required Qualifications:High school diploma/GED, or a combination of equivalent education and experience, and a willingness to learn;Prior experience working in an administrative setting;Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;Excellent customer service skills;Experience maintaining and processing confidential documents;Ability to work independently and proactively;Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;Comfortable working with a culturally and ethnically diverse population and possess exceptional cross-cultural communication skills; andComfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in higher education institutions;Knowledge and/or experience with Ellucian Banner, CampusLogic, Dynamic Forms and Salesforce; andAbility and willingness to be flexible with various assignments.
