MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Human Resource Development or related field with emphasis on the principles of training program design and implementation.

Experience

Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in the design, development and/or conduct of technical training programs

Certification/Licensure

N/A

Preferred

Master's Degree preferred

Demonstrated experience in the design, development and conduct of technical training programs specifically in the areas related to the assigned Department/Office functions such as RAIL, BUSV, or related areas.

Previous supervisory experience

SUMMARY

The Curriculum Development Specialist will design and develop curriculum content, training materials, training modules and teaching aids, by identifying best practices, as well as, gaps between actual and ideal performance. This role is responsible for developing curriculum that will be used by training instructors and or facilitators to train employees for their assigned department/office area. Works under the direction of the department/office Director/Manager/Superintendent/ Supervisor and complete assignments independently in accordance with accepted principles and methods of the field. Work is reviewed by the respective Director/Manager/Superintendent/Supervisor through conferences, written reports and observation of the extent to which performance objectives are achieved.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manages multiple curriculum development projects simultaneously by prioritizing project deadlines. Tracks curriculum development life cycles; ensures that any problems are addressed, escalated when needed, and resolved quickly.

Conducts research and develops instructional materials by analyzing and evaluating, performance results, educational data, practices, and trends.

Communicates with instructors and support resources, including publishers and development vendors, to ensure successful implementation of curriculum projects.

Prepares and evaluates instructional materials and teaching aids. Writes or edits training manuals and instructional guides ensuring usage of proper grammar and production ready quality control. Participates in the planning and direction of instructional staff in their preparation to conduct courses.

Manage, create and maintain setup documentation for compliance and certification and or license requirements. This includes program binders, syllabi, curriculum catalogues etc.

Recommends input to Course Catalog to reflect new/revised program information.

Collaborate with the stakeholders and review proposed project efforts to determine scope, key milestones, and timeframe.

Partner with stakeholders to evaluate and update existing courses. This includes:
  • Develop and formalize a robust quality assurance review process of all existing and new training programs
  • Manage and conduct quality assurance reviews of all online programs with Director/manger/supervisor/project managers.
  • Establish a process to review and include feedback from end of course surveys, and student evaluations into the quality assurance and course maintenance processes.
  • Establish a systematic approach to obtain and review assignments and assessments across cohorts.

Maintain accurate tracking of all curriculum changes and version controls.

Works with Department of Human Resource staff (e.g. Talent Management Office) to develop and manage courses material.

Work collaboratively across functional areas to manage and coordinate and perform related duties as required.
