Job Details
As a Director of Performance & Operational Excellence you will:
•Lead Adventist HealthCare's pursuit of Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence recognition. Responsible for developing and maintaining the application, facilitate the Performance Excellence Steering Committee, serve as the SME for the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program and ensures full adoption and deployment of the AHC Leadership System and Standard Management Approach
•Lead and mentor a team of internal lean six sigma practitioners to create a supportive, safe, and transparent culture of habitual excellence by coaching, training, and the deployment of lean six sigma tools.
•Partner with physician and administrative leaders, and be responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of comprehensive performance improvement and process management initiatives while ensuring alignment and consistency in deployment across the system.
•Lead, facilitate and support the system wide journey to excellence, ensuring Lean Six Sigma strategies are developed to improve and re-design systems and processes critical to safe, timely, effective, equitable and patient-centered care
•Facilitate improvement teams through the life cycle of a project. Act as the subject matter expert on improvement methodologies and imparts knowledge of improvement processes to project teams.
•Work collaboratively with the Directors of Quality Services and Quality Advisors to facilitate the effective deployment of various process improvement initiatives.
•Assist the team leader in identifying barriers to implementing improvement plans and developing strategies to overcome these barriers.
•Develop the analytic and measurement strategy for all projects undertaken, including development of key performance indicators, identification of data sources and collection of baseline data.
•Communicate regularly with team leader, members and executive sponsors about team progress toward goal achievement, critical factors and obstacles.
•Engage in special projects targeted at achieving key strategic goals at the request of senior leadership.
•Assess the need for and provides real time process improvement training for leadership and teams. Conduct formal process improvement training forums as requested to support organizational development.
Qualifications include:
•Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Systems, Public Health, Nursing, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a relevant field is required
•A minimum of five (5) years of Lean Six Sigma and FOCUS PDCA project experience and three (3) years progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting is required.
•Minimum of five (5) years in a Lean Six Sigma Transformation working environment required.
•Three (3) or more years of management/leadership experience.
•Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification is required.
•Experience with the Malcolm Baldrige framework in a healthcare setting required. Baldrige Examiner training preferred
•Healthcare and internal consulting experience in acute care and population health settings, including but not limited to home health and physical rehabilitation, is required.
•Demonstrated experience managing complex cross-functional projects
•Ability to monitor, analyze and present performance data and design and implement process related action plans to improve performance or adherence to standards or regulations
•Proven experience facilitating Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Process Mapping, 5S workshops, and Root Cause Analysis sessions required
•Experience teaching healthcare Lean Six Sigma principles required
•Must have advanced leadership skills with demonstrated ability to successfully serve as a coach and mentor to Green Belts
•Advanced level competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint and Visio required
•Experience utilizing statistical analysis software such as Minitab required
•Experience working and coaching in a Studer and Team.
•STEPPS embraced environment required
•Experience with publications in academic journals required
•Strong customer service and organizational skills.
