School of Kinesiology Adjunct Faculty (Spring 2024)The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development and its School of Kinesiology, invites applications from highly qualified Adjunct Faculty to teach "Endurance Sport Program Design" (KINE 250) to Kinesiology undergraduate majors within the Strength and Conditioning concentration. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Instructors will teach "Endurance Sport Program Design" (KINE 250) in a face-to-face mode on the Science and Technology campus in Manassas, VA. Instructors will be provided instructional and mentoring support from faculty. Quality instruction and responsive feedback to guide student growth are essential.Required Qualifications:Master's or doctorate degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field;Experience and expertise in coaching endurance sports, particularly running, with a strong understanding of cycling and swimming;Knowledge of functional physiology, psychological aspects related to endurance sports, and basic nutritional requirements;Comprehension of injury reduction strategies and safety protocols during training and race events;Proficiency in endurance race management techniques; andFamiliarity of the history of endurance sports is a plus.Preferred Qualifications:Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist credential from the National Strength and Conditioning Association;University teaching experience;Knowledge of Blackboard or other learning management systems; andEvidence of successful teaching a similar course.About the School of Kinesiology:The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology is a nationally recognized program with accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), and is recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association's Education Recognition Program (ERP).Please visit https://kinesiology.gmu.edu/ for more information on the full-range of programs, course offerings, and research in the School of Kinesiology within the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University.
