Job Summary

Aptive is seeking an Event Manager with demonstrated experience in event planning, logistics experience, and marketing skills. This candidate will be responsible for executing numerous internal and external events for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). The Event Manager will support all aspects of planning and execution of events including sourcing venues (in person and virtual), working with a production team to oversee audio-visual support, and management throughout each event. This key team player will also assist with engagement activities and program development focused on communicating and sharing information with key stakeholders.

This full-time position is located in Tysons Corner, VA.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage event logistics, including selecting and scheduling events, managing speakers and attendee needs and coordinating registration requirements.
  • Oversee venue selection and coordinate with venue representative.
  • Manage and coordinate the event with venue staff.
  • Engage stakeholders and provide relevant information prior to each event.
  • Provide on-site support for participants during events, as necessary.
  • Capture and distribute event findings, including outcomes, decisions, and action items to inform future sessions.
  • Submits written summaries and outcomes of each event for archive and monthly metrics reports.
  • Advises leaders and other staff on events and protocol issues, ensuring handbooks and standard operating procedures, etc. are current.
  • Develops and integrates social media tactics into events.
  • Drafts articles as appropriate, capturing participation and impacts at key events.
  • Responsible for developing an annual engagement strategy including internal and external events.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of relevant experience in planning and executing events.
  • Experience supporting large, complex events, with multiple breakout sessions.
  • Experience supporting large federal agencies.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related fields.
  • Prior experience working with the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, or the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.


Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive research and analysis.
  • Ability to develop white papers, briefing materials, and to make oral presentation of these materials to all levels of management.
  • Ability to educate and inform senior federal management on various communication planning alternatives.
