ORDER OF PREFERENCE: The selection for Administrative Clerical is made on the basis of fitness and ability with preference given to: Administrative Clerical District , System-Wide ( L689 ), Authority-Wide and external candidates, respectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate with some experience in money handling, security, responsible clerical or related work.
Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidate's continued employment as a Revenue Collection Technician will be contingent upon a successful official police background investigation.
License:
Possession of a valid District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia motor vehicle operator's license issued from jurisdiction of residence or the ability to acquire one on a timely basis.
Medical Group :
Ability to complete satisfactorily the medical examination for this class.
Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks (e.g., lifting heavy weights and maneuvering loaded revenue carts) when completing assignments. Ability to remove a revenue transfer cart (weighing a minimum of 250 pounds to maximum 950 pounds) from the revenue holding vault under supervision at a designated rail station. Ability to remove 700 pounds of stock from the revenue transfer cart, remove all stock from the machines (including three (3) coin hoppers weighing approximately 70 pounds each) and audit and restock machines.
Job Summary/Duties:
This is revenue processing, servicing, collection and clerical work. Employee in this class is responsible for maintaining supplies in the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system, processing and collecting transit revenue, preparing reports and transferring Authority monies. Employee has limited latitude for independent judgment and action. Employee reports to the Supervisor, Metrorail Revenue Service.
Employee is responsible for full and emergency servicing of AFC equipment which includes vendors and addfares. Transporting the revenue collected from designated holding vaults to the RCF Building via Revenue train for processing. Collection of revenue from parking meters at designated Metrorail stations and transport to the RCF Building for processing.
Inspects stock level of AFC equipment and resupplies them with materials, such as fare cards, change, etc., as necessary.
Utilizes revenue train to transport revenue vaults or carts between the revenue processing center and appropriate storage facilities. May operate armored vehicle.
Utilizes hydraulic lifting equipment, elevators and escalators to transport revenue between the rail revenue transport vehicle and pick-up and drop-off locations.
Transfers revenue and revenue containers between the AFC and related vending equipment at the mezzanine level to revenue carts. Transports and secures carts in storage vaults located at the platform level of each station.
Empties revenue containers and collects revenue from transit storage vaults and parking meters.
Maintains revenue reports relative to the servicing of AFC and other vending equipment and to the transfer of monies in accordance with established procedures.
Hand sells Metrorail fare media for special events.
Collects captured zero balance fare cards from fare gate consoles and data compiled by the EDADS Enhanced Data and Display System.
Operates an adding machine or calculator to prepare reports.
Performs duties under armed escort of Metro Transit Police officers.
Works variable hours.
Performs related duties as required.
