Job Summary

Aptive Resources is seeking an accomplished technical writer to provide educational and outreach support to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Student and Exchange Visitor Program. The technical writer will write, develop, edit, and publish content and copy for various digital platforms, including websites, blogs, videos, email marketing campaigns, social media posts, infographics, whitepapers, and more.

This full-time position is located in Tysons Corner, VA.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Research, write, edit and coordinate a broad range of communications/outreach materials (e.g., articles, blogs, brochures, fact sheets, flyers, media pitches, mobile apps, outreach scripts, social media posts, videos, websites) under strict deadlines.
  • Create and disseminate presentations, toolkits and other communication materials to establish partnerships and enhance partnership development.
  • Gather, analyze and interpret information and data from various sources to use across content.
  • Plan, generate and deliver client-ready materials for stakeholders, including leadership.
  • Develop content in compliance with AP style and other guidelines.
  • Review outreach material for stylistic and formatting consistency.
  • Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team


Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of relevant experience in communications or journalism.
  • Bachelor's degree business management or related field.
  • Prior experience working with the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, or the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive research and analysis.
  • Ability to develop white papers, briefing materials, and to make oral presentation of these materials to all levels of management.
  • Ability to educate and inform senior federal management on various communication planning alternatives.
