Duties
Performs Course Director Duties. Provides Instruction encompassing the full range of activities involving the Logistics Management discipline as it exists within the Air Force. Conducts extensive research or referenced subjects through interaction with appropriate SAF and HQ USAF offices, subject matter experts, product centers, air logistics centers, laboratories and test centers. Works with Curriculum Development and Interactive Courseware Development Specialists to determine the most effective educational techniques to apply In house, as well as on-site offerings. Prepares class schedules, arranges for guest speakers, tracks pass/fall status of students; and ensures effective coordination of all activities in the conduct of course for which administratively responsible.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1701, General Education and Training Series.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: A successful completion of a master's degree is required from an accredited college or university that included or was supplemented by major study in Education or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position (e.g., Business Management, Logistics Management, Program Management, Financial Management, or Similar Technical Field).
AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT : Specialized Experience: At least (1) one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12) level in the Federal service or equivalent pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in Logistics Management AND facilitating adult learning, presenting and/or developing classroom and/or web- based courses related to Logistics Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:Mastery of Logistics Management, both theoretical and applied; with major emphasis on quantitative/quantitative methods, financial considerations, and management within the Air Force at all levels of management. Includes principles, policies, practices, and processes of operational unit and wholesale materiel management sufficient to plan, organize, and manage critical aspects of the development, production, and implementation of the assigned educational/instructional program. Expert professional knowledge of Logistics Management policies and practices, both current and under legislation, of the Secretary of Defense, Acquisition Reform Initiatives, processes and documents. to include all elements of Defense Acquisition and operational sustainment. Includes knowledge of activities and purpose of functional support personnel and the ability to coordinate pertinent aspects of logistics management in order to effectively implement the instructional program. Thorough and in-depth knowledge of current Policies and procedures for a logistics specialties sufficient to integrate those policies and procedures into the Logistics Management curriculum. Encompasses analytical knowledge of the military command structure, missions, programs and organizational relationships and includes a mastery of the application of a wide range of quantitative and qualitative methods used for the assessment and improvement of educational program effectiveness. Considerable working knowledge of major logistics organizations, to include operational aircraft wings, is mandatory. Working knowledge of a Product Center, Air Logistics Center (ALC), Test Center; and Laboratory is desired. Includes. knowledge of program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key program events/milestones, and methods of evaluating program accomplishments. Required to have specialized experience in operational or wholesale level materiel management (supply chain, distribution, contingency plans, and/or maintenance, and/or life cycle logistics activities, preferably in multiple Air Force organizations. In-depth working knowledge of computer applications, with emphasis on tile ability to use computers for the development and implementation of simulations and exercises, graphic and multi-media presentations, and internet-based Instructional Programs. Includes ability to effectively manage electronic messages and utilize associated media/programs for rapid transfer of textual matter and scheduling. Skill to plan, organize and facilitate course development work and to negotiate effectively with management (to the level of SAP and HQ USAF) to accept and implement recommendation where the proposals involve substantial agency resources require extensive changes in established procedures, or may be in conflict with the desires of some team members. Ability to integrate effective instructional methods into the development and presentation of courseware that motivates and enables maximum learning of highly complex subject matter which may be difficult to learn. Ability to create and maintain an effective student-teacher relationship with mature professionals as well as with peers and administrators. Skilled in leading discussions and in speaking before audiences, clearly expressing concepts and techniques. Skill in developing, reviewing/editing texts, handouts, manuscripts, case exercises and examinations.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
