  • High School Diploma or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and four (4) years of Electrical and/or Electrical Maintenance Vocational/Technical Training

Experience
  • Three (3) years of experience working in the electrical equipment repair field

  • Active Journeyman or Masters electrical license

Job Summary

The Shift Supervisor, Low Voltage Power Systems Maintenance is responsible for supervising the installation, testing, repairs and maintenance of the low voltage electrical equipment in all Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) owned facilities in accordance with WMATA, Manufacturers, State and Local Authorities and National Electrical Code (NEC) guidelines.

Essential Functions
  • Supervises assigned personnel and performs routine duties such as; installing, maintaining and repairing all low voltage electrical equipment on WMATA property, following NEC guide lines.
  • Assigns duties to staff based on workload priority, giving instructions in proper work methods and techniques and following up to ensure satisfactory completion of work.
  • Prepares mandatory reports on subordinates in order to document their performance and progress at all levels.
  • Implements the maintenance plans and procedures for the Low Voltage and ensures that standards operating procedures and safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Assists in the development, administration and implementation of the WMATA Low Voltage training program and provides input on maintenance standards, ensuring that employees perform their roles at an optimum level.
  • Discusses and resolves employee complaints and grievances in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and Human Resources policies in order to facilitate normal business operations and a work environment remains harmonious.
  • Ensures materials are available for assigned maintenance activities and accounts for assigned electrical/electronic equipment.
