Research Technician The George Mason University Center for Applied Proteomics and Molecular Medicine (CAPMM), invites applications for the position of Research Technician. CAPMM is a world-renown laboratory that focuses on the development and implementation of cutting-edge protein analysis and advancing the field of proteomics, the systematic analysis of protein architecture in diseases and biological processes. The focus of the center is to create new technologies and make basic science discoveries in the field of disease pathogenesis and apply these discoveries and technologies to create and implement strategies for disease prevention, early diagnosis, and individualized therapy. The Research Technician will be responsible for performing Cell Culture, Laser Capture Microdissection, Western Blot, Reverse Phase Protein Microarray analysis, Spatial Proteomics, and Immunoprecipitation. The position will also perform basic statistical analyses and work in collaboration with other data scientists to analyze large proteomic datasets. Additionally, this position will have some lab management responsibilities in support of the project. This position will work closely with the Principal Investigator and will be involved in the discussion and coordination of research efforts with collaborators on the project.The work funded under this position will use cutting-edge proteomic techniques to understand carcinogenesis in pancreatic cancer. Required Qualifications:Excellent attention to detail in laboratory tasks, as well as administrative tasks;Ability to work under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor;Ability to read and comprehend relevant scientific literature;Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and shift priorities simultaneously;Ability to work as an effective team member; andAbility to use sound judgment to effectively solve problems within the scope of the position.Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with immunoassays including Western Blotting, Reverse Phase Protein Mircoarray, Immunoprecipitation, and Immunofluorescence;Experience with basic cell culture techniques; andExperience with basic data processing and analysis.
