Part-Time Event Technology and Operations SupervisorThis is a non-student wage position. Current GMU students not eligible to apply. Head into the fall season of 2023 with a new job as a Virginia state employee. The Office of Events Management at George Mason University's Arlington campus is ready to hire (as in immediately) a Part-Time Event Technology and Operations Supervisor. Oh, and the $25 hourly rate is nice.Responsibilities:You'll be responsible for the setup, operation, and breakdown of technical and non-technical equipment for events held in Van Metre Hall event spaces on the campus. You will also serve as one of the onsite shift supervisors providing direction and guidance to event support staff.Additional responsibilities include:Assist the Audio-Visual Manager by having excellent working knowledge of all AV systems in Van Metre Hall event venues; including the setup and support of various live streaming platformsRespond to and troubleshoot technical issues and provide user support during an event when required;Verify that all equipment requested for events is set in the exact manner as described on the set-up report (unless otherwise directed) - this will involve the setting of tables and chairs and audio-visual equipment in accordance with reservation requests;Maintain order in all storerooms and ensure that aisles and mechanical equipment areas are kept clear of equipment;Assist Event Manager(s) with their program needs while enforcing User Responsibilities of GMU-Arlington;Identify maintenance discrepancies and/or damages within event space and forward them to Event Manager;Interact with clients prior to event start time to ensure setup requirements are accurate and check in with client periodically throughout event;Required Qualifications:Must be a high school graduate;At least six-months experience working in an Audio/Visual tech support capacity;Possess outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently with a diverse audience, including current university faculty and staff, alumni, donors, students, and the community;Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends;Must be able to safely and independently move items up to 50 pounds;Must have excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills; andPossess strong customer service, time management, and organizational skills, with a high attention to detail; andUnderstanding of audio/visual equipment used to support events and multimedia applications, visual/audio hardware configuration, conference A/V set-ups, streaming platforms, and knowledge of electronics used to support events, and a willingness to learn new skills.Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with higher education; andWillingness to learn A/V and multimedia applications, conference A/V set-ups, and streaming tools and platforms.You'll be busy.
