Job Summary
Westat is seeking an experienced Research Services Senior Library Analyst skilled in conducting thorough literature searches and providing in-depth research services to internal and external clients. Working collaboratively with other library professionals, the Research Services Senior Library Analyst will ensure the efficient and timely completion of research requests in a cost-effective manner.
Job Responsibilities
• Conduct detailed literature searches for literature reviews and complex research requests.
• Formulate and implement complex search strategies; adapt searches to various research databases; conduct iterative searches; and document search methodologies, both independently and in collaboration with other librarians.
• Collaborate with requestors to clarify research objectives, as necessary, and provide guidance on best practices for literature reviews and other research requirements.
• Summarize and synthesize findings and place findings in context.
• Manage search results and maintain bibliographic management databases.
• Communicate progress directly to requestors in a clear, concise, and timely manner.
• Work collaboratively with peers as well as independently to provide expert, seamless service and to follow research assignments through to completion.
• Assume a leadership role in providing and maintaining access to electronic library resources, ensuring the library is responsive to user needs and evolving technological advancements.
• Provide guidance on copyright compliance and technical services activities.
• Support the manager in providing guidance and mentorship to other librarians and library assistants.
• Other special projects, as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
• Master's degree from an American Library Association accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional search experience in a research library environment.
• Demonstrated research skills with extensive experience conducting literature review searches utilizing research databases, such as PubMed, ProQuest, Ovid, EBSCO, or equivalent products.
• Proficiency and strong understanding of the literature review process. Experience in effectively managing bibliographic information using EndNote and Covidence.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience managing electronic information resources and working with emerging library technologies.
• Conduct orientation sessions and deliver comprehensive training on the utilization of research tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to think creatively, problem solve, multitask, and reprioritize to meet competing deadlines.
Other Required Qualifications
• Demonstrated communication skills.
• Collaboration with teams, managers and/or clients
• Organization skills, including time management ability.
• Detail oriented
