Responsibilities & Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establishes the overall objectives and initiatives of an IT engineering department with an in depth understanding of needs for computer hardware, software and networking tools.
  • Develops ideas for new products or product enhancements and oversees the creation and improvement of products for oceanographic uses.
  • Knowledge of fisheries biology, management planning, or stock assessments including socio-economics analysis
  • Provides engineering expertise to other departments where needed.
  • Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures related to data analysis, enterprise data management, metadata development and management, archival, cleansing, integration, management, or transformation.
  • Experience in providing solutions using cloud platforms, and cloud storage, from the perspectives of application development, integration, and hosting.
  • Experience in Geographic Information System (GIS) and geospatial modeling and mapping applications including geospatial data analysis.
  • Familiarity in working with oceanographic, underwater image processing, and ecosystem assessments.
  • Knowledgeable in survey methodology design, development, and implementation, Statistical analysis
  • Experience developing application architectures to migrate systems to multiple cloud platforms and document exceptions for non-cloud hosting.
  • Performs a variety of tasks related to high performance computing, enterprise data management, software engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning (AI/ML), and optical character recognition (OCR)
  • Ability to develop and get approval on technical concepts for varied stakeholder groups across the enterprise.
  • Expert at communications and outreach for advancing ideas and engaging stakeholder participation.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Leads and directs the work of others.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • BS/BA
  • License and certification may be required.
  • Public Trust
