Chenega Worldwide Support (CWS) is a premier provider of Architecture and Engineering support services to federal customers around the world. Founded in 2016 to support federal operations OCONUS, CWS holds true to its mission that no matter the location, we are there to get the job done.

The Structural Engineer will assist NAVFAC WASH with the performance of structural design and production support from project inception through construction.

Responsibilities

• Be familiar with both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build delivery methods for projects.
• Provide technical leadership/mentorship to junior architecture design staff and review. other architects' work for code compliance and constructability.
• Estimate design efforts and assist in negotiations with Architectural-Engineering firms and General Contractors.
• Address contractor submittals and requests for information (RFI's).
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of 5+ of experience as a Structural Engineer, with demonstrated experience in:
• Design and Contract Document preparation for new and existing buildings similar to the building types prevalent in the NAVFAC Washington Area of Responsibility
• Experience as a Structural Engineer, with demonstrated experience in Design and Contract Document preparation for new and existing buildings
• Experience in Construction Management/Scheduling and Cost-estimating
• Interim Secret required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of ICC codes, Life Safety Code, ABA Guidelines, and Energy and Sustainability Design Regulations.
• Demonstrated experience with interdisciplinary coordination required for contract document preparation.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of current AutoCAD and other design software, including but not limited to SAP2000, RISA-3D, Retain Pro, and other general office software.
• Demonstrated knowledge of specifications development and coordination, using government-based specification software.
• Ability to prepare and provide high-level briefs to senior leadership.
• Oral and written communication skills must be highly developed.
• Ability to travel (10%).
