Job Summary
Aptive Resources is seeking a SAS Administrator, to be part of a team, to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity (PA&I) for the Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA) Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). EDW is the source for all data and information about Veterans benefits data. It contains relevant data from each of VBA's transactional systems and arrays the data in a variety of business intelligence reporting for executive managers, business lines and claims processing teams in VBA's Regional Offices. EDW data is used for fraud detection and prevention, financial auditing, and reports to Congress. It is the source for all legal reporting requirements, to include the Government Performance Accounting Act, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006.
The SAS Administrator must have experience with diverse IT projects both large and small within an Oracle environment. You will work within a diverse team and multiple firms supporting one mission. This position will serve as the SAS Administrator for VA's Linux-based platform and be responsible for SAS software performance tuning, design, monitoring, capacity and utilization management, application security, user support and scheduling and installing OEM security patches, upgrades and new releases. Additionally, this position will be responsible for producing, maintaining, and implementing a documented SAS change control process.
This position is onsite in Washington, D.C. at the VA facility during the normal operating hours of 0800 - 1700 EST Monday to Friday, excluding Federal holidays.

Primary Responsibilities
- Administer a SAS 9.4+ platform on a Linux OS.
- Ensure SAS servers, as well as applicable security infrastructure and its systems and processes, are aligned with tactical and strategic information management initiatives.
- Assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of various SAS products while troubleshooting system related problems.
- Be responsible for the overall availability of the SAS environment.
- Provide dedicated operations and maintenance (O&M) support for the SAS Platform and its end users.
- Provide consistent, reliable reporting on system resources and performance, monitoring alerts and providing system maintenance.
- Define and execute a sound methodology for conducting routine and ad hoc repairs.
- Analyze known or potential risks and their subsequent impact on the development, deployment, and maintenance of the database applications.
- Provide subject matter expertise in development tools and various optimization techniques.
- Produce and maintain accurate system documentation.
- Maintain the SAS Server Dashboard in OBIEE or Tableau that monitors server storage and active SAS users.
- Develop a SAS Platform change control process and deliver a Change Control Process Document entailing procedures for the SAS environments and provide updates as necessary. All configuration changes, including the promotion of analytic project results to the production environment, must go through this change control process.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other related degree.
- 4+ years of SAS Administrator experience.
- SAS Platform Administrator Certification.
- Experience installing, configuring, and managing SAS packages.
- Ability to investigate, escalate, and resolve all SAS production support incidents.
- Experience tuning SAS code.
- Highly organized, systematic and proactive in delivering materials and meeting client expectations within a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge in problem identification, alerting, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
- Experience operating within the requirements of a formal SAS change control process.
- Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
- Ability to obtain and maintain public trust clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
